The City
of Temple, is more than 100 years old, as it was settled in 1882 along the Georgia Pacific Railroad lines. The line
was being constructed to connect Atlanta and Birmingham.
Located just north of
Interstate 20, 42 miles west of Atlanta and 11 miles north of
Carrollton via Georgia Highway 113, Temple considers itself the third fastest growing city in
Carroll County.
The city is administered
by a mayor and council form of government, with a full-time city manager handling day-to-day operations. The council meets
the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. and sessions are open to the public. Mayor and council members serve
four year terms on a staggered basis.
